Seed to Shelf: How Mett Naturals Hemp Goes From Our Farm to Your Hands

Posted by Ashley Nackos on

Most CBD brands can't tell you where their hemp comes from.

They'll use words like "premium" and "responsibly sourced" without being able to tell you the name of the farm, the name of the farmer, or how the plant was handled before it ended up in the product you're putting in your body.

At Mett Naturals, we can tell you all of it. Because we grow it ourselves.

It Starts on the Farm — With a Family

Our hemp starts its journey at Froerer Farms, managed by Craig Froerer — a new age farmer with old world experience. Craig has been working this land alongside his father Owen since he could walk. This isn't a contract farm supplying dozens of brands. It's a family business, built on relationships, run the way a family farm should be run.

Craig is our partner. Our farmers are our friends and family. And that relationship is the foundation everything else is built on.

Watch our farm story video here:

Step 1 — The Seed

It all starts with selecting the right seed. Our hemp plants are bred specifically to produce high concentrations of CBD while staying within the legal limit of 0.3% THC. Not every seed makes the cut — quality starts before anything is ever planted.

Hemp is one of the most remarkable plants on the planet. It requires very little water to grow, replenishes soil nutrients as it grows, and improves soil health over time. It's biodegradable, sustainable, and has been used by humans for thousands of years. We think that's worth honoring.

Step 2 — Soil Testing & Organic Practices

Before a single seed goes in the ground, the soil is thoroughly tested. High quality CBD begins at the farm and that means making sure the environment the plant grows in is clean, healthy, and free from contaminants that could end up in the final product.

We follow organic best practices throughout the entire growing process. No synthetic pesticides. No chemical fertilizers. Just good soil, careful farming, and a genuine commitment to doing it right.

What the plant absorbs from the soil ends up in the oil. That's not a small thing — it's everything.

Step 3 — Growing & Harvesting

Hemp is a full-season crop. Our plants grow through the summer, developing the dense, oil-rich flower clusters called colas — the part of the plant where CBD and other beneficial compounds concentrate.

The cola is where the magic lives. It contains the majority of the hemp plant's oils — CBD, CBG, CBN, and naturally occurring terpenes that work together to create what's known as the entourage effect. Harvesting at the right time is critical to preserving those compounds at their peak.

Our team monitors the plants closely throughout the season, harvesting when the time is right, not when it's convenient, and not before the plant is ready.

Step 4 — Extraction (The Part Most Brands Skip Over)

This is where most CBD brands lose the plot — and where we do things differently.

Many CBD products on the market are extracted using harsh chemical solvents like CO₂, butane, or ethanol. These methods are efficient and cheap, but they require hazardous additives that can leave residual traces in the final product and strip away beneficial compounds in the process.

We use a Hyperbaric extraction process — a patented method that uses only low heat and negative pressure to extract the full spectrum of compounds from the hemp plant.

No CO₂. No butane. No ethanol. Just water and pressure.

The result is a cleaner, purer extract that preserves the full plant profile — CBD, CBG, CBN, and terpenes — exactly as nature intended. It costs more and takes more care. We think it's worth it.

Step 5 — Third-Party Testing

Before anything leaves the facility, every batch is tested by an independent third-party laboratory. We publish our Certificates of Analysis (COAs) publicly — you can view them anytime at mettnaturals.com/pages/third-party-testing.

This isn't just a box we check. It's a commitment to accountability. You should always know what's in the product you're taking — and we make sure you can verify it yourself.

Step 6 — Formulation & Production

Once we have clean, tested hemp extract, it goes into our products — each one formulated with the same intentionality that goes into the growing process. Clean carrier oils. Simple, purposeful ingredients. Nothing synthetic, nothing unnecessary.

Our American Fork, Utah warehouse is where it all comes together — from the extract to the final product that ships to your door.

Step 7 — Your Hands

From Craig's farm to your daily routine — every step of that journey is one we can account for. Every ingredient. Every process. Every test result.

That's what seed to shelf actually means. Not a tagline. A commitment.

Most brands can't tell you this story. We can — because we lived it.

Why It Matters

You might be wondering: does any of this actually change what the product does?

Yes. And here's why.

The quality of CBD extract is directly tied to the quality of the plant it came from and the method used to extract it. Hemp grown in compromised soil, harvested at the wrong time, or extracted with harsh solvents produces a lower quality extract — one that may be missing key compounds, may contain trace contaminants, and simply doesn't perform as well in your body.

Clean farming + clean extraction = a product your body can actually use.

That's the whole idea.
